HANANOKI “OKAMI” is YUMIKO MAMA-san!

She has a very nice garden in your house. The flowers are decorating the table come from this garden. The tiny flowers are so sweet.

Japanese room. Here we can hold tea ceremonies.

She has a very nice collection of antique small things. Some of them are from her grandpa, and grandma, and others she bought in antique shops.

She has a lot of Japanese Kimono. Since she does not wear them anymore, she uses them as table centers, or makes pillow covers out of them.

Of Course! She is the master of Tea ceremony!

The customers love her very much. They enjoy spending time with her.

22 years ago, with the age of 45 years, Yumiko Ohata decided to start her own restaurant. She called it “HANANOKI” and specialized on traditional multi course Japanese food, known as “Kaiseki”.
Her knowledge is based on her experience of taking household arts in college and visiting the school of Miyuki Iida. http://www.mbs.jp/portraits/portraits/2003/2003_3/m.iida.html
But most of her skills she learned by herself, driven by her passion and love for food and omotenashi.
After working by herself for a long time, she passed her knowledge on to her son Yasushi Ohata, who is now chef in the kitchen.

Visiting HANANOKI is like visiting a family house.
There are two rooms. One is a western style dining and living room. The other one is a Japanese Tatami room, where you can hold tea ceremonies.
But the main reason why people like to visit HANANOKI is omotenashi. OMOTENASHI is Japanese hospitality. Yumiko-san welcomes you with passionate care and attention, coming from her heart. We can learn a lot about it from her.

22年前、彼女が45歳のときに大畑弓子さんは日本会席料理の”花の木”を立ち上げようと決心した。家政学を勉強し、その当時有名な飯田深雪さんの学校に通ったがほぼ独学でこの会席料理を学ぶ。彼女には何かやりたい！という熱意があり、またおもてなしや食が昔から好きだったそうだ。長い間、彼女一人でやってきたその頃を振り返って話してくれた。泣きながらやったこともあったのよ、、と。確かに、冬のおせち料理を数家族分作り上げるのは一度体験したが、並大抵でなく、寒さと徹夜で泣きそうだった。
今は大畑康さん、息子さんが弓子ママさんの跡を継いでほとんどキッチンにたっている。

花の木を訪ねるとまるで友人や自分のお家に戻ってきたような感覚だ。２つだけのお部屋があり、一つは広い洋室、もう一つはお茶会もできる和室だ。しかしながらどうしてお客様がこの花の木を愛するかというとそれは弓子ママさんによる”おもてなし”なのだ。弓子ママさんはお客様がいかに心地よくすごすことができるか、上手に心からもてなす。”おもてなし”は日本の暖かい気遣いだ。
私たちは彼女から学ぶことが沢山あると思う。Love Yumiko-mama san!

I made the necklace with the thought that so many artists had made something with the lips (from Dali to Mr. Reithofer~~:))) so I wanted to try what would I make out of it~ Then I made the lip as center and the rest grow naturally around it. The half balls are made from a small piece of melted silver and hammered repeatedly to form the sphere. So actually the lip was easy to make but the rest was hard work! 

Maybe this means to get love is not to difficult but the love’s labor (afterward) is much harder work!! (haaa joke)

多くのアーテイストが”くちびる”を創作していて、私もそれに挑戦しようと思った。（ダリ、ウリ〜:))) それから真ん中にくちびるを創った。それから自然に周りは出来上がっていった。ネックレスの部分の半分のまるは溶けたシルバーをハンマーで何度も叩き、そして球体を創る。実際、くちびるは簡単に出来上がるが、そのネックレスの部分はとても大変な仕事だ。おそらく、これはこいうことだろう。。。
愛を得るのはそんなに難しくないけれど、愛を続けて行くことはより大変だ！しかしながら。。。なんてジョークですけれど。

SAKURA 2013  : from 19th March to 5th April.

19th March_Sakura started blooming

25th March_Full blooming in 7days… we call such a weather “cherry cloud day”　花曇り

2nd April_While cherry blossoms bloom in beautiful color, they all fall within about a week.But at this season they are blooming in 15 days!

5th April_The Cherry trees are leaving out.

今年もあっというまにさくらの時間は過ぎました。いつもより忙しく、お花見ができる時間がなかったのですが、それでも毎日見かける桜の花は季節のうつろいを教えてくれました。
桜は、優しさ、儚さ、強さや、悲しみあらゆる感情を呼び起こします。
散る様が美しいさくらは、如何に生きるかを教えてくれるようです。
私もさくらのように最後まで一生懸命に咲き、そして美しく散りたい。

The Cherry blossom time  quickly passed by. I was very busy this year, so I could not go cherry-blossom viewing, but I saw it on the way home every day and I could feel the change of the season.

The various emotions like sentiments, gentleness, ephemerality, strength and sadness come out by cherry blossom.
The beautiful view of falling cherry blossoms teach me how I have to live in my life.
I want to do my best in my life as sakura,
and then to fall in the same graceful way as cherry blossoms die.
